He was installed on 20 Jan 08 by Bishop Wayne Miller of the Metropolitan Chicago Synod.<div><br /></div><div>Welcome to TULC! </div>Shepgdadtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3130852870621998574.post-23716480519981986652007-12-04T13:25:00.000-08:002007-12-04T14:51:38.042-08:00<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">We have started Advent, the season which prepares us for Christmas.  Researching Advent Wreaths for the children messages, it is interesting the various names for the candles.  The candle names that we have used for many years at TULC are Prophecy, Bethlehem, Shepherds, and Angels.</span><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">But other names for them are Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace.  These names seem to me to capture the real meaning of Advent.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Hope - for the second coming of Christ and the light coming into our world on the first Christmas.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Love -  showing God's love for us in giving his Son and to point out to us how we should act in this lifetime.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Joy - the Joy of the birth of a Saviour, a Messiah, a Son of Man and to remind us that  true and lasting Joy on earth comes thru Christ.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Peace - </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style=";font-family:'Trebuchet MS';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Jesus comes to bring Peace to both the world and to people's hearts, and to remind us that we should strive for Peace in our world and our lives.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=";font-family:'Trebuchet MS';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style=";font-family:'Trebuchet MS';"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium;">Christianity can be described in these 4 words : Hope, Love, Joy and Peace!</span></span></div>Shepgdadtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3130852870621998574.post-82322307308972769782007-10-11T09:49:00.000-07:002007-10-11T10:11:20.589-07:00Last week's Gospel was Luke 17:5-10, which includes the mustard seed amount of faith<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style: italic;">,"If you had the faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and be planted in the sea'; and it would obey you" Luke 17:5 (NASB)</span>. <div>In the Bible Study on this lesson we tended to remark on our lack of faith.<div>Maybe it is more to the point that even a small amount of faith can accomplish great things.  In the children's sermon, the story of "the little engine who could" was used, demonstrating what you have faith that you can do, you can do.  What great things can Trinity United Lutheran Church accomplish?</div></div>Shepgdadtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3130852870621998574.post-40410786039653704782007-10-03T11:36:00.000-07:002007-10-04T20:30:17.438-07:00This is the start of a blog for TULC, a place to post comments or thoughts about TULC or to ask questions or post thoughts relating to your spirit life.<div>It is meant to be to the Glory of our God!</div>Shepgdad
